Who We Are
It takes a team - actually many teams - to offer the diverse programming you will find every day at the Center. Here are the teams that make it happen.
Our Staff
Jayne Colino, Director 617-796-1671 jcolino@newtonma.gov
Jayne leads "the
team" and supervises the staff of the Department of
Senior Services. She guides the Center on a daily
basis with an eye toward the future. Jayne also staffs the Newton Council
on Aging, a citizens group appointed by the Mayor to identify and meet
the needs of the Department's seniors in the community.

Alices organizing skills keep the Center running smoothly. She works to ensure that the Center is a safe and comfortable environment. She keeps our data, keeps us in supplies, processes the finances and keeps the building ship-shape.
Joanne Fisher, Program Coordinator 617-796-1670 jfisher@newtonma.gov
Joanne uses her creative abilities to develop our wide array of programs. In addition to producing our monthly newsletter, "Coming of Age", Joanne oversees our volunteer corps. Joanne also produces a monthly cable program, also named "Coming of Age". If you are new to the center, Joanne will give you a tour. Just call for an appointment.

Kathy is an experienced social worker with a specialty in geriatrics. She and the outreach worker can be found in the Social Work Suite on the Lower Level. They are She is joined by a social work intern. All They are available to provide resources, assistance and support. Lynn Feinman, Aging in Place Project Manager 617-796-1675 lfeinman@newtonma.gov
Lynn can be reached at the Newton Senior Center Monday through Friday from 12:00-4:00p.m. She is working on projects designed to assist citizens to stay in their homes as the changes that come with age become a reality. These programs range from tax assistance programs to home maintenance resources and related services.

Linda offers support with administrative tasks and keeps our database updated. Her work is critical in providing information necessary for funding reports and daily functions of the center.Linda is here mornings Monday-Friday and can be found on the Mezzanine.

Custodial staff Ken Doucette and John Flynn contribute to the center's clean, safe, comfortable environment that is so important to our mission.
Corps of Volunteers
The Newton Senior
Centers Corps of Volunteers is an amazing team of over 200 individuals
who share their skills, wisdom and interests to create a very special
environment at the Center. We have volunteer teachers, caterers, bingo
callers, singers, musicians, receptionists, data entry, store clerks,
handymen, and lunch site helpers. The list of volunteer opportunities
is endless. If you have an interest or skill, wed love to have you
volunteer for us. Contact Joanne and let her know how youd like to get involved.
Council on Aging
The Council on Aging is a group of interested volunteers appointed by the mayor to serve the needs and improve the quality of life for all Newton seniors focusing on outreach, advocacy, education and legislation.

Lunch Site
Manager Lucy Bedigian
The Newton Senior Center offers lunch Monday-Friday, through the Federal Lunch Program, under contract to Springwell. Diners are offered a choice of hot or cold entrees 5 days a week. A donation of $1.75 is suggested, per lunch, and reservations should be made by 11:00am the previous day by calling the main number at 617-796-1660.
Transportation Staff
Van / taxi drivers and coordinators provide services under a contract with Veteran's Taxi. See transportation info.
